I was REALLY impressed with the Streamliner/ML112 combination when I had that pairing to check out. I can imagine two of them with the 900 would take care of just about anything! Perfect match! Enjoy that! |

I just took a prototype of a new Baer 15/6 box out for a spin on a real world gig. Holy Moly and Woof! I think this box is going to make some noise. It sounded great at lower volume earlier in the evening, then when it got loud the box killed.
As Roger explained it, he got a few "new" 15's from Eminence. The box is similar looking to the ML112, but obviously a bit bigger. Two triangle ports at the bottom and the 6in on top.
My main memory of 15 boxes were my old Dual Showman,
B15-N, Sunn Colosseum, Kustom and Bag End small single 15 box with the big port in the back. This box is NOTHING like those. I wouldn't really call it modern. It lies somewhere in between. For instance, I could get a very usable slap tone.
The box is right at 50lbs. Roger thinks the finished product should be a little lighter.
The sound man said it was the biggest most supportive sounding box I've ever brought on the gig. He loved it. One thing I really enjoyed about the box was as I played higher and higher up on the neck, the sound didn't get thinner. It was dark and warm but also FAT FAT FAT. It was a treat soloing with a sledgehammer sound in the top of the bass.
The power handling was also quite impressive. My Epi UL310 is one of my all time favorite boxes. This 15/6 had a somewhat similar high end with a bigger, deeper low end, and volume for days. At one point I decided to really push the box just to see if I could make it cry. Not a chance. This thing can take some wattage.
Roger still has to do some tweaks on the box, but if this is only the first one, I think Baer has a total winner. And don't get me started about using a pick! |

This is the one I'm waiting on. I had been thinking about picking up a 15 as a smaller and lighter alternative to my 410, and I will be patiently awaiting the "All Clear" to place an order for one of these! |

Actually I forgot to add that info.
I checked it out for a little while at home with an Aguilar TH500, an Eden WT400 and a Markbass F500. Sort of ends and middle of the spectrum. Since my memory of 15 cabs was big and punchy, but not quick and articulate. So to be safe I brought the F500, the quickest and easily eq'd amp of the three. The eq settings on the gig were pretty near flat.
Bass was an 05 Fender mia deluxe J V, with nickle rounds.
The room was big with about 450 people. I was NOT in the PA!
I was the ONLY thing not in the PA. Band was drums, guitar, bass, percussion, piano, and two horns. We were playing soft Pop early, then much louder Rock & Pop.
Some of my older experiences with Markbass amps was a little frustrating because of the built in limiting I experienced with the LMII. The F500 seems not to suffer from that amplifier illness. I was pushing the amp pretty well, but I wasn't at the end of what it could put through the 8ohm box. |

I figure I'll start out with one, and if I feel I want the bigger rig option for that sound, I'll grab another. |

Aside from the sound guy, anyone else give you any feedback out in the audience? That sounds like a pretty loud gig and with no PA support, that's pretty cool if you were well-heard out in the audience above the FOH. |

That would be nice. I think 500 watts into 8 ohms from one of several good contenders would really make this thunder. Also would like to know if the ML115 tuning would make it compatible and play nice with the ML112?

I was a little surprised myself at the volume and coverage. The 6in gave very good room dispersion. But we already know this from the ML112. I was standing next to the guitarist who was using a Bogner head and a 1x12 cab that was mic'd. Soundman said I sat just fine in the mix, but again, it was the biggest sounding box I've used. I usually use a UL310 or UL112/UL110 stack.
Roger's going to do a few tweaks on the box. I can't wait to hear it again. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
