I was looking for another 4x10 to add to my second rig and have been approached to buy a Bag End 4x10.
Has anyone used or use these cabs?
Describe the sound? midy, lo fi, hi fi?
It's a Bag End Q10X-D model
Thanks in advance

Bag Ends are high-performing workhorses--not the sexiest, certainly not the lightest weight, but they will kick butt all day and all night, year in and year out, in any genre, with any instrument, and sound great doing it. |

Bag End makes good stuff. That cab in particular will be quite loud, sound nice, and be pretty heavy.

Thanks in advance | Kind of a cool design... offset 10's with a coax in the highest driver. Like the rest of the line, warm and tight and punchy, with a very nice sounding extended top end.
The negatives.... I believe this 410 was only available in 8ohms, and is not the highest SPL 410 around... so that might limit your amplification choices. Also, like all the Bag End coax loaded cabs, there is no tweeter attenuator. I found the tweeter nice and balanced on the 410 cab though, but it is always there.
And, the big negative... it is just a stupid heavy cab... maybe 100 pounds... can't quite remember.
High quality, unique warm tone with that airy top end, very high quality, and cool looking.
Edit" The 'x' model has the tweeter, the 'non X' is a one way cab. You can tell by looking at it, since the coax is under a red dust cap on the top speaker. If all the dust cabs are the same color, then it is a one way version. |

Even frequency response is very appealing.

I used an Ampeg SVT-4 Pro.... wasnt all that loud. The cab seemed very power hungry.

So, the tight voicing of this cab would be a good thing, and assuming you have an 8ohm tap, the impedance would be a zero issue. One thing, you would probably want to make sure that it is the 'non x' version, since a tweeter without a level control can be a bad thing if you are one that uses your tube amp to grind and growl a bit. |

The "B" model is 18.5" deep, whereas the regular Q10X-D is only like 12" Presumably, the deeper model has more low end response. I think the B models are more common so if you get reviews or comments, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Having said that: I have a Q10X-D, the model you mentioned, and I think it's a good-sounding cabinet. Good even frequency response, although that means it's not a natural cab for old-school woofy thump, if that's what you're going for, although you could get close to that effect through EQ. Although it doesn't have a level control, I have not found the tweeter to be too much. Actually, I like the small footprint; it's great for crowded stages. It is, as many others have mentioned, quite heavy.

But damn was it ever heavy and akward, I remember the packing weight when I bought it said 107lbs which was the only reason I sold it, gigging with it every week became too much after a while. |

I had the 4 x 10 XBD and it was just too heavy for me...it sounded amazing though. I settled for two Bag End S 15d cabs.....been using them for years.... |

As mentioned, it is WAY HEAVY (94 lbs). I find it to be a clean Hi-Fi kind of sound. I used to pair it with a Sunn Coliseum (1x18) and the 2 had an incredible synergy. I found that I could control the tweeter with the amp's EQ... but if you don't like clean this is NOT the cab for you... and oh yeah, it is power hungry. I still have mine, and it still comes out occasionally - but ONLY for REALLY EASY load-ins.
If they weighed 60 lbs. I'd buy another and gig the pair forever.
