bag end cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

I found a bag end cab on craigs for $25. It sounds like its a 15' and the speaker is torn. Is it worth it? I don't have use for cab at the moment except that I would like to build a head (sometime) maybe I could fix it and sell it? the guy just says it old and heavy and that it sounded good. So not much to go on as to models. Anybody know good replacement woofers? (15'?)

peace,
matt

Depends on the age and condition. If it looks like wet raccoons have been chewing on it for the last 20 years, then it's only worth buying if you want a bigger project with recarpeting, new corners, rewiring, etc. If it looks halfway decent cosmetically and the jacks/wires are in good shape, then sure it's worth $25.

There's no way to say what speaker will work well in there without knowing the exact dimensions and a description of the port(s).

Basically, what bongomania said. I see a lot of cheap gear on CL that supposedly needs only a minor fix, but who knows until you buy and try?
Bag End gear is pretty bulletproof. Unless the cabinet has been thrown off a building or submerged for a long period of time, it should be salvageable with a little work. I have two of their 15" boxes from the 70s and early 80s that are beat to hell but still work great.
