Bag End Cabs:

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey just put two Bag End cabs on hold today. They're both 4x12 straight cabs. Here's the thing...I have no idea if they are Guitar or Bass cabs (either does the store). I tried calling Bag End haven't heard anything back. Did Bag End make a 4x12 bass cab? Here is a pic.
Both 8 ohms.

Is there any porting ?

How deep is the cab ?

Just on looks alone, I would say that the cabinet size is way too small for bass

I wish I knew the answers to those questions, i'm waiting to hear back from the store. It's across the country so I can't go down there.

Could be either, but one thing's for sure, IF they are guitar cabs, you don't want them as part of your bass rig, and that's for sure.

I'm leaning towards that also...any specific reasons?

Bag Ends current 12 and 15 cabs seem to be marketed as guitar/bass cabinets. Their web site has the same models under the guitar category as well as the bass category. They might be intended for both. I would look for ports as a clue.

Wow interesting! Thanks for the insight. What should I look for with the ports?

I would say if they have ports they are bass cabs. If they don't only bag end would know for sure? I use and old late 70's peavey 4x12 that is sealed and it's a bass cab. It's my favorite cab I have ever owned. Try em out they might be cool.

Alright I'm gonna ask if it has ports and I'll check out those late 70's peavey cabs.

There were 8 or so of these (Deep Red IIRC) on Ebay several years back listed as bass cabs. I have a 2x12 Deep Red that works great for either bass or guitar. They are also stonking heavy, around 145 pounds or so. My 2x12 is 70+.

I'd LOVE to hear one. If it's anything like I would imagine 2 2x12s together would be then they are monsters.

When are you supposed to receive them?

Those look like the exact same speakers in my 2x12. The pic of the speaker is taken through the port directly behind it. Each speaker has one about three or so inches in diameter. Most certainly a bass and guitar cab.

email mrknowitall@bagend.com with the serial numbers. Dan Saraceno is his name and he's always answered my inquiries in a day or so, and is very thorough and a pleasure to chat with.

Looks like a sweet cab. And you have 2 of them coming to you? Maybe find some finish rings to put in the port holes to make them look a little neater.

Search for Bag End here: there are several 4x12 cabs, all say "guitar".

Hmm. There are zero 4x12 models of any type (finish, color, etc.) on Bag End's website, so I have to assume they are custom orders. Very rare, in any event. The ones I mentioned on Ebay years ago are the only ones I've ever seen until these few. Intriguing!
