Bar Gig Rig...

Sign in to disble this ad
...Ampeg Pro7 amp and Pro Neo 2X10 cab...enough for small-medium bar/club gigs? Classic rock cover band, three(!) guitarists, rock-loud trapset, three vocals...why the 2X10? Weight. This has to be a light rig. I'm old going on older...

Thanks for your ideas...

you've got plenty of wallop in the amp, the 2-10s might JUST make it. I use a GK 400RB w/2-10 PVs for the exact same situations and it's usually OK.

But I am looking to use 2-12s and the 800RB for better cutting power. 3 guitarists are a lot to cut through sometimes when the volume get the better of them..........

3 Guitars and a loud drummer? You're asking a 2x10 to do too much.

Thank you for your thoughts.

A decent 4x10 should give you a fighting chance.

Get two 2x10's and stack them. Easier to transport and more flexibility in setting them up.

It kinda depends also on if you will have full PA support or not. If not then I agree the 2x10 may not be enough.

I'm generally OK w/that set up, and the PVs aren't the most efficient drivers out there, but then I guess my guitarists and drummer are usually (he says.......) pretty reasonable w/the volume. Too loud and the bartender can't take the drink orders = loss of business

But I hear you, Burning Skies, more meat flapping does wonders

Actually, a single 12 rear ported near a back wall will have a lot of boom if you push enough watts through it, and on a little luggage carrier is mighty portable....something to consider.

Even so, seldom do small PAs afford bass in the monitors, even fewer sound men want to push bass in their monitors, and when up against 3 guitar amps and a loud drummer on stage, a 2x10 is a recipe to not hearing yourself all night long.

Agreed, a pair of 12's should get the job done. Probably end up destroying a 210 or a single 12 cranking to be heard.

you need more than a 210. I've played numerous bar gigs with 1 guitar player and a 410 would do the job. 3 guitar players & a loud drummer? at least a 410 or 2x210's.

A pair of 210's stood vertical would also work. Or a single 212 with the drivers loaded vertical. That way improves dispersion and puts a speaker closer to ear level so you will hear yourself. Weight etc. is an issue. I find a single 212 that's taller with a small footprint is a fairly easy schlep if it has a tiltback and roll design. Maybe easier than making another trip for the second cab. You'll like the smaller footprint on smallish stages too, especially with 3 guitar rigs and a drumkit up there.

I find 410's in a heavy cube can suck to move for old guys or those with bad backs. Granted you can put wheels on the bottom but you still have to lift it sometimes. And your sound will still be blowing by you at knee level...no ears down there.

For playing in bars I prefer 2 2x10 cabs or a 2x10 and a 1x18 cab.

Get an 810 rig and then everybody tells you to turn down, get a 210 and then they say 'turn it up"......Your SvT-7pro can push the 810...1000 watts Ok only at least try the
410HLF for a fighting chance
against 3 guitars.............................Good luck

We have 3 guitars, drums, and 5 vocals total on some songs/ My Hartke 410 does the job. I have tried using my Hartke 210 solo and I had to really increase the Master to get a decent sound. Lesson learned. 410 or 212.
