Bass amp and cab (need help)

Sign in to disble this ad

Hello.
I want to buy Ampeg SVT-6PRO, but I need a cab for this amp. Could you suggest what cab should I buy?
If amp's RMS is 750 watt\8 Omh and 1100 watt\4 Omh, what power must cab be? Must it be more powerfull than the head or not?

Thank you.

P.S. maybe you can suggest another amplifire?

Nothing wrong with a Ampeg 8X10E cabinet to match that. I think the head should have more available watts that the cab can handle, then you have head room. Want it to sound over driven? Turn down the master and turn up the gain. Also listen to the speakers ... They will fart-out if you are driving them too hard, if this ever happens turn down or you will blow your drivers. Cheers.

Depends on what kind of sound you want. An 810 would probably be the 'default' cab, but if you want more low end you might want to go with a 410HLF or a pair of 15's. The 610HLF is kind of an "middle of the road" cab too. regardless, you'll want to run a 4 ohm load to get the most out of the amp.

I dislike the 6X10HLF, it doesn't have the good characteristics of either the 8X10E or the 4X10HLF. I feel sorry for that cab, it tried to be the best of both worlds and ended up falling short in regards to both, IMHO. Cheers.
