Bass and amp combinations

Sign in to disble this ad
Last night I was killing time on YouTube looking at people playing Kubicki basses. I noticed that in almost all of the videos they plugged into Hartke amps. This is the classic Stu Hamm combination but it seems to linger on to this day.

I checked out Status too and found they were often plugged into Trace Elliots ... and Stingrays into GKs ....

What other bass/amp combinations have you noticed ?

I used to play Kubickis through Laneys, but the Laneys kept exploding. Now I use Hartke as well. Dunno why you see that combo often. Might be the Stu factor, although that wasn't a conscious decision on my part. Hartke captures the bright and deep tones of the Kubicki really well while still letting its midtone sing. Not saying it's the only amp that can do it, but my Kubis certainly sound fuller with the Hartke rig.

I guess that there must be certain "best combos" for a certain bass and a certain amp that eventually sift to the top. Dunno. Would make an interesting study
