That doesn't sound like a good idea to me. It leaves me with a lot of critical questions. Like what is meant by "home speaker/sub"? If it's something for your TV surroundsound kit, forget it. I doubt anything meant for a home stereo is going to be able to handle an instrument amp pumping into it.

And does the amp have an actual speaker out jack on it? If it doesn't, stop. Don't do it. If it does, what's the ohm load it's meant to have? Any idea if the speaker matches that? You could overheat your amp if you get it wrong.

It all sounds like a bad idea to me. Don't do it. Get a real bass rig. You can't substitute home stereo equipment for one.

Stereo speakers aren't usually tough enough to handle what instruments plugged in directly do to them. Not a good idea except at low volumes.

Hi.

^What the guys above said.

It'll "work" if Your definition is a very broad one, or the sub in question is a really hefty one.

I have one somewhere in my "junkpile" that is listed as 2/4KW IIRC. That'll "work" as a MI cab as well since 86dB sensitivity means that it'll really require all that power to be heard/felt. 2*1Ohm voice coils (IIRC again) does mean also that it'll be one hell of a load to any amp. Connecting anything like that to a MI amp will cause trouble.

Another vote for not to try it if the sub in question has any value to You or to anyone else.

Regards
Sam
