bass cab question

Sign in to disble this ad
so i have a fender bxr300c, sold the speaker to fund my aria pro2 csb380 project (so awesome) anyways and the head doesnt work (i think the monolithic rectifier is bad) sand thus im left with this huge empty cab in my living room and im thinking of converting it to either a 2x12 4 ohm cab or a 5x10.

my question is if i took five 8ohm speakers wired two sets in series, then those sets in parallel with that 5th driver, wouldnt it come out to 4 ohms?

and on the bottom there's two 2x9 slot ports. but i would have to knock that out if i went the 5x10 route. if i ported it 4 times with a 3 inch in the back would it be enough to keep the response to my low B fine? new to the custom cab bit any help is much appreciated.
