Bass cabinet feedback

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey y'all

Hoping someone could offer some help here. I was using my rig yesterday at my church and I started getting feedback from my amp when I played a particular note on the gstring. It's was very odd, never had that problem. I had the tweeter off and I certainly wasn't pushing the rig. Oddly enough I moved the cabinet to another location and there was no feedback. I've experience that lobing effect in some cases with low frequencies but never higher frequencies. Could this be an issue with acoustics/placement or an issue with the cabinet itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I run into this although it isn't the same note when I play either of my P-basses, but not my Ibanez SR500.

Now you've got me wondering what's going on - if maybe the Fender basses somehow "hear" acoustically too. I know that's kinda silly - but maybe there's a parasitic oscillation somewhere in the neck or body that picks up that particular note and re-amplifies it.

Either that our you can incorporate that feedback into your cover of The Beatles "I Feel Fine"

Just my 2 cents -
Maybe it is caused by vibration coming from the floor up through your cabinet?
If it is, putting rubber (or something else than could dampen) under the feet or casters might help.
