Question Bass Cabs/Heads?..

I am now starting to seriously consider getting a huge-ass amp of some description, but I'm just completely lost when trying to compare everything at once. I'd be looking to spend anything between about £200-£500 (vaguely), but price isn't really an issue. I've been playing in a funk/rock band (in which mah beis is quite important) for a little while now and things seem to be going good, and this amp would be needed for anything from playing in parks etc. to pubs or whatever else comes our way. I usually play clean slap but I love synth/distortion too, and even the kinda nice melodic Victor-Wooten-style stuff too so it would need to be able to cover those styles (if that information is relevant at all I don't really know as I said I don't know anything really about amps ). I'd be really grateful for any information regarding different amp cabinets/heads and such (did I mention I was thinking about cabs/heads rather than a combo amp?), any comparisons or past experiences with different models/makes would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance,
ZetaBassist

Ooooo btw I use a Fender Standard Jazz Bass, if that makes any difference!

300+ watt amp, pair it with a good 8 ohm 4x10, or 2x12, and you're on your way. Not loud enough? Add a 2nd identical cab, and you have a full, matched bass rig.

Cheap clean amp that reacts well with effects ? Gallien Krueger. And buy used in that price range.
