Howdy folks.
I was wondering if this can be done.
In lieu of buying a head, is it possible to run a DI box into a speaker cab?
I have a cabinet voiced for an old EV 15" speaker. Its rated at 8 ohms and only has a 1/4" jack, not an XLR input.
I'm using a Ibby ATK300, tuned BEAD.
Any input would be excellent.

You need an amplifier. A DI is just an electronic interface between pickups and cables connected to a sound board/mixing console. A DI is not an amplifier. It is a "Direct Inject" box for managing weak signals cleanly, especially for longer cable runs.

Well, yeah, if you have an amplifier between the di and the speaker, then, mos-def yes.
Seriously though: no.

Trying to weasel my way out of buying an amp.
I could just get away with going straight into a PA, but I was just curious if you could do this. Thanks for the input.
