bass with a guitar amp head?

hello, i have a bass cab and was wondering if i could use a guitar amp head like the line 6 spider II. would it ruin the amp or should it be fine? i've used my friend's line 6 before and it sounded fine (he's a guitarist). do i need to get a bass amp head or will the line 6 be fine?

You can safely use a guitar head for bass.
