Bass guitar designed speaker for car audio?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im pretty pissed, I won an auction for 4 aggie speakers and the dude sent me one, anyways I don't see him sending me the other 3, so what do you think of this...

Using the 10" aggie speaker for a subwoofer in my car. If anyone has used bass guitar speakers for music subwoofer applications please chime in!

I have played music thru my aggie cabs before and I always thought it sounded pretty damn good, but I have no experience with using this speaker in a car application. Any thoughts are helpful! Keep it real TB!

Musical instrument speakers are designed to work in 10,000 cubic foot and larger rooms. Autosound drivers are designed to work in 150 cubic foot and smaller rooms. There is no application crossover between the two.

Action was very very misleading, but I guess it was for one only, but it says four total in the auction, Im going to pursue it.

Here is the listing:

Aguilar 10" Speakers 4 total

We have here 4 Brand New Aguilar Bass Speakers. They are Replacements for the Aguilar DB410

10" cast frame driver with 56 oz. magnet
Conservatively rated at 175 watts
For use with the 8 ohm DB 810

we Have 4 total. would like to see all together but will break up if need be.

There 85.00 Each or All 4 for $300

cheers

Keep in mind this was a NO RESERVE auction on ebay. I won the auction.

So file a claim with eBay, and, more importantly, PayPal.

+10. anyone reading that auction would be led to believe they were bidding on all 4 drivers. file a claim, and get your money back or your speakers sent to you.

It boils down to how much you paid I think. If you paid 85, then you should get one. If you paid 300ish then you deserve all of them.

Given the wording I would be inclined to believe that the auction was for all 4 but given the final price he probably decided you only should get one.

Depends, Bill. If that's the auction above he should get all 4 speakers. They were auctioned as a lot, not as singles.

In this format, seller puts up what they want to sell (in this case 4 drivers) and takes the auction final price for the lot. They don't get to pick/choose how many they want to ship based on the auction ending price.

If the seller wanted to sell one or more, he'd have a fixed price listing with a pick box for how many units the buyer wants. This isn't that.

Well, I think the seller goofed and didn't create his auction correctly. It's his fault, really that he didn't put in a reserve for all 4 or the whathaveyou. Not the buyer's fault. But this should have been communicated at the end of the auction for clarity, given the final statement of the auction....both their fault.

Its whatever, I paid like 60 bucks after shipping for one speaker, but I don't need ONE speaker I needed 4, so now im out 30 bucks shipping either way, regardless my HIGH bid was much higher than that, but it does not matter because I won. Its not even worth "sending it back" because I am already out 30 bucks for shipping.

Get your money back. Don't let dishonest crooks walk all over you. He should pay all your shipping, too.

As for your original question, I'd listen to Bill on this.

Not my fault at all sir, this dude should have contacted ME if anything, he obviously does not understand how ebay works. Should have confirmed that I was getting one speaker before shipping it. Hell he should have sent me 4.

The ebay auction sounds more like a classified ad than an auction. I would have clarified before bidding and again after winning just to make sure. For $60 I wouldn't expect more than 1 speaker but like you said, "I don't need just one speaker, I need 4".

The auction entry is effed up but there's a lot you could have done on your part to avoid the problem.

As for using it as a car speaker, I know Mr. Fitzmaurice says not to but what's stopping you from trying it? Might as well give it a shot and see how you like it while you got the speaker. It's not going to be like a car sub though if that's what you're asking.

I used two 15" JBL D140 speakers in a Sunn 200S cabinet in the back of my GMC Suburban. I would just unplug it when I needed to use it for a gig, otherwise it made a great sub in the car.

Thanks Gale, hands on experience is the best advice I can possibly get, and cool! Im sure the sub will bump a little bit, sounds good with music thru the cab in my small practice area it will probably sound good in the trunk of my car.
