Bass Head Feedback Issue

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone, I'm a longtime bass player but new to the forum. Here's my question. I have an Ampeg SVT 350 watt bass head (solid state). When I am playing through the head, cab, and DI into a PA system everything is great. But when I turn the head off, still live into the PA through the heads DI, I get this awful radio station/feedback loud noise come through the PA. It does not do this when I'm only playing through the head and cab. Whats the deal?? Is this normal or is something wrong with the head? How can I fix this? Thanks for any/all feedback.

Why in the world would you be feeding a PA system with the amp turned off?

It only happens the instant when I turn the head off. That second or two when I switch it off, between it being powered on and totally off.
