Bass/Rhythem Amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am about to start lessons on the bass and rhythem electrics at the same time. Is there a practice-type amp that is suitable for both? Thanks...

A bass amp, especially with a guitar multi-effects pedal in front of it, will be a very suitable practice amp for guitar.

Definitely get a bass amp. You can plug a bass and guitar into a bass amp. But you cannot plug a bass into a guitar amp. Low bass frequencies are bad for guitar amp speakers.

I own an Ampeg B2 head with SVT-1510HE cabinet. Basses sound fantastic, as expected. But there have been times when I plugged in an electric guitar with a Marshall Shredmaster distortion pedal (not sure if they make that pedal anymore). Man, the crunch out of that thing is unbelievable!

Bugera 1960 head with a bass cab if you're a rock player...should work just fine.

You'll want a reverb tank for the guitar though.

I've plugged a bass into a marshall half stack and a 5150 half stack. at moderate volumes it was completely ok and, in fact, sounded great. As always, use your ears as a guide.

Make sure you use a bass cab...replacing blown drivers can be expensive and bass cabs sound better for bass.
