Bass Speakers in Avatar Guitar 2x12?

Sign in to disble this ad
The regular 2x12 bass cab doesn't fit in my car. Would it work to put bass speakers into the Contemporary Custom 2x12 guitar cab? I don't want a tweeter, or any hi-fi type components in my cab.

If this wouldn't work can anyone suggest an alternative?

I think you'll find all the dimensions of the guitar cab wouldn't sound too great with bass speakers.

hmm.. maybe i'll just get the avatar 2x10, and put it in a road case, and put the cab on top of the case, that way it won't look so puny.

If a 212 doesn't fit in your car, either get two 112's, or find a different 212 configuration that fits, or go with a different configuration (210 or 115) that does fit.
fEarful 12/6 might be a way to go.
Genz-Benz Neox 212T also.

Figure out the dimensions you have to work with, and find a cab that fits.
Or replace your car.

If you have the 12" bass speakers already, you could try it to see. I converted an Orange 1 x12" guitar cab by changing the speaker and porting the sealed box. You can check to see if the dimensions are close on the speaker manufacturers website.

No. The drivers and cabinet must be engineered to work together.

Get a bigger car. Really. A 212 is about as small a gigging rig as you can get away with. Serious bassplayers don't drive Miatas, they drive minivans.
