Basson 810 with a blown speaker?

There's a Basson on CL right now with a blown speaker, and the guy is basically telling me to name my own price for it. I'd love to pick it up and keep it at the Dankhaus (rehearsal space) and keep the Ampeg 810Es for shows.

First off, how the hell do you blow a speaker when the cab handles 2000 watts? Second, how hard would it be to source a proper replacement. IIRC Basson stopped making these. I'd hate to have a 250lb doorstop taking up space.
