The 383 is my favorite bass preamp, and I have tried many of the usual suspects. A local tech and bass player modded one for me to get a little more juice out of it, but , other than that, it's the best sounding pre for bass, imho. Great compressor, ability to bi amp, active crossover, great EQ points, etc. I use it with a Crown XLS 1000 bridged, and also a MarkBass F1, all racked in a 4 space shallow SKB that comes to about 20 lbs !
