BBE Bmax

Im thinking of pickup up a BBE Bmax SS unit.

I've searched and read most of the older post's here on talkbass, but they seem to be pretty outdated.

Anyone out there using a newer Bmax? Have they fixed the cracking/gain problem? Everyone describes them as being "very clean sounding", are they too clean?

how would a VT pedal work with one.?

Recent: Any experience with BBE BMAX preamp?

I have the Bmax-T, and the VT bass worked fine, and no crackling. Not sure how similar it is to the SS version.

Just keep in mind, it has the Fender tone stack, something I never quite got used to when I owned one.
