With an honest opinion what do you like about these two choices for a simple bedroom amp ? |

| | | | I like the Peavey’s cuz you can crank’em up loud without breaking up. I think it’s their DDT compressor doing a good job or something.
They just sound like more watts for the money, when they’re not. |

| | | From just those two listed, which I've only demo'd in the store, I preferred the sound of the peavey. They both sound okay for bedroom practice but not much more.
However I do agree with JimiLL that you should do more research, I think there are better options for around the same price it's just that your local store might not stock them. Some options would be swr la10, carvin mb10, line 6 lowdown studio 110, acoustic b100, fender rumble 75. These are all just options that in my opinion would give you more value for about the same cash as the ones you listed. If you went used you could probably get a combo that sells for $500ish new for that range.
Of course my personal favorite is the swr spellbinder blue which in my opinion only is the best combo out there - at least for my needs |

| | | | ... Based on the two choices, I guessed Tac’s budget to be around 200 bucks. For a new amp, the Peavey is a very good choice in this range IMO.
Not much else unless you go used. The Carvin MB10 is in another class ($$$). The Warwick 10" combo is also a good choice.

Cheap and warm. Perfect for a cold winter. |

Just kidding, my 10" Behringer combo's been a champ for 3 years despite the rep. |

It's a VERY small 10" cab with a 300 watt amp. I got a chance to try one out and I was blow away by how good it sounded. Would be the perfect practice rig that you could also use in small gigs. |

not comfortable with a 10" speaker
wanted a 1/8th in input for a Ipod
never going to use it for rehersal practice or gigs I have another rig for that purpose.
Looked on ebay for a couple of weeks didn't find any good deals, also tried this classified forum. |

The tone wase incrededable. well defined lows, punchy mids, crisp clean highs and lots of headroom from what i can remember. Unfortunatly that setup is triple the budget I have. |

| | | | My Carvin MB10 is great too but it's too much for your budget. The Peavey wins if it's a 12" speaker you want for NEW and 200.00. |

| | LICENSED TO KILL - any song I play! | | | | | I've had both, a Peavey Max 110 and Max 112. The 110 sounded cleaner and, was of course, smaller and lighter. The 112 didn't impress me at all. I've done jams with acoustic guitars with the 110 and also keep it set up as a practice amp. I don't have a 5-stringer so I can't comment on that. Why the hate on 10" if it's just for the bedroom? Okay, THAT didn't sound right, but you know what I mean! I still have the 110. I got rid of the 112. BOTH are made in China, by the way.

It will get louder than you need it for bedroom practice. I've used this for acoustic gigs and worship sets where the drummer was playing an electric set. It has tone for days, too.
