Beginner Amps?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, TB community! I haven't even bought my bass yet, but I'm saving up, and when I do, I gotta know: what is a good bass amp? Has anyone had a crazy-awesome beginner amp? Is there a brand I should look for? I'm certainly not rich, so my price range is pretty low. What is the highest-quality bass amp for the least amount of money?

Once you get your bass, go to a music shop, and find a bass combo amp that you can afford, and you like how it sounds. That's it. We can list a thousand possibilities, but it all comes down to what's locally available, and the 2 factors I mentioned. Welcome.

I like this solution, since I have an acoustic amp (present with my acoustic guitar from my gf), but no electric amp (borrowing an electric from a friend.). Thanks a bunch!

Finally, an Ibanez GSR200 (it's got a transparent red finish on a flamed maple top, with a P/J pickup config.) It's my baby!!!!

Research combo amps online so you have an idea of what's available at certain price ranges. Then consider buying a used amp because you can get more amp for your money if you buy a used one (provided it's decent). Having researched what kind of combo amps are available within a certain price range will also help you to know whether or not you're looking at a good deal.

I like the Acoustic B20. I got mine used for around $100 off Craigslist.
