Beginner Portable Amp (For Youtube)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everybody!

So I looked through the other threads for "beginning bass amp" and the like, but I have a question specifically about using amps and making Youtube videos.

I'm pretty much a beginner and am currently using a Peavey Max126 10W amp. I plan on making Youtube videos for the most part and was wondering if this would be ok to start out with? I need a rig that's portable but also budget-friendly (I'm currently in grad school) so that I won't have to move a lot once my lease is up.

I also plan on getting a Ric soon (once I save up enough cash), so I know I want a better amp soon. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

If you're just recording YouTube vids, why not just use a DI/preamp pedal? It would sound better.

HUGE +1! If you're recording to Youtube, for whatever reason, your primary focus needs to be audio quality. You can have all the skills in the world but if your video sounds like crap then nobody will watch it. Get a decent audio interface and a solid DAW (like Reaper, which is free: REAPER | Audio Production Without Limits). Record the audio into that and sync the video from your camera.

Thanks for the tips! I'll look into getting Reaper and a decent DI/preamp pedal. I always thought you needed a good mic/amp/video camera set up to "sound good" on Youtube, but I guess I was wrong.

Cheers!
