Behringer 300 watt combo & Fender Rumble 350

I plan on getting a new amp soon and Im trying to weigh out my options for the budget Im on. Im ready to get rid of the P.O.S. Crate bx 50 Ive been using for 18 years now for just home practice. Now that Im actually playing with people I need an upgrade. Im currently looking at the Fender Rumble 350. It seems that it has the amount of punch (350 watts obviously)I need for future jams or possibly gigs. Has anyone used this particular model at gigs? Does it have enough punch for medium type venues?

Also, as a price buster...Ive seen the Behringer 300 watt combo with the 15 inch speaker. Obviously the Fender is more superior than this model, but the price is less. I know you get what you pay for but can anyone weigh in on this model for those who own it. Is it gig worthy or just a piece of crap? Does it have the full 300 watts or is it just the head? Anyhow Id appreciate the comments to help me in my quest for better sound.

I have a Behringer BXL3000. I use it mostly as a practice amp and a keyboard amp. I've used it once in a band and it was ok, but our levels were low. Its ok, nothing to rave about. When I played my Charvel 2B through it, I didn't like the tone at all. When I play my 4003 through it and I can get a better tone. Its fine for what I use it for. I got mine for about $200, so it was worth it for me.

I have had a Behringer mixer die on me during a gig and I do not trust their products at all. Their bass combo amps sound pretty horrid if you ask me. If you are looking to upgrade, I do not suggest the Fender Rumble 350 - you are going to be stuck with a combo amp and the room to expand your tone will not be much. The Fender Combo can work well on stage if the band is not too loud and you have PA support. Get a lightweight amp head and a regular 210 instead and you should be good to go. This way you can always swap out gear for better and/or louder tone needs and not be stuck with a combo amp.

Don’t be certain the Fender is better. I went through two Rumbles (25w, 10” speaker) just practicing by myself, and after the second one I received a full credit which I used to buy a Behringer BX300.
Not only was the Behringer far more durable, it sounded much better (fuller, punchier, louder). I jacked it up LOUD for good long jams with friends. Oh yeah, I had enough money left over to buy two sets of bass strings! Going on year 3 with that amp although I don’t use it much now since buying a Carvin MB10.

There may be better alternatives in your price range. How much you wanna spend? I would lean towards a Carvin MB15, GK MB15, or Acoustic 200 combos first, if it’s a 15” combo you want.

I have the Fender Rumble 350 and it was NOT adequate. The 2x10 speakers did not cut it for a rock band situation. I had to turn the volume up to 8 or 9 just to be heard but then the amp was being pushed too hard. The Rumble 350 is great for practice or 'quiet' bands, but if you play in a rock band, forget it. It's deceiving because the amp head may be rated 350 watts, but I don't think the attached speakers are suitable for it. I would suggest buying a separate head and cab if you will be playing gigs or medium type venues.
