Behringer bb115 any good?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I've found second hand bb115 for 80 bucks. Is it any good? It says that it is 600w, but can it handle that power in real? I have 800w @ 4omh power amp. Now i use one 8omh 450w cab, so if i buy this, would it really handle at least 400w?

I would avoid it. Cab-wise you cab probably find better stuff for less cash depending on where you look. I thoroughly enjoy a plethora of behringer/bugera products, but behringer bass cabs are total crap, I assure you.

ahhhhhhhh!!!

KA-BLAM!!!!

No really, for 80 bucks it ain't bad but I would use it for rehearsals where I could just leave it somewhere and never worry about it. I would not use it as a main gigging cab, unless I had to.

I'd use it as a part of my gigging cabs. It would be paired with ashdown 410

Oh. . . In that case it would make a great stand for an Ashdown 410

Behringer electroncs are halfway decent for the price and how they do that is to copy other proven hardware almost to the point of infringement. Unfortunately, they don't follow that business plan when it comes to cabnets.

I haven't tried this cab, but i have tried Behringer cabs that didn't sound half bad imho at lower volumes in some inhouse café backlines (a 4*10 and a 12'' combo). I think the ok sound was partly due to an expanded bass response that must be to your taste. Exactly that expanded bass response became a problem at higher volumes (farting out). The power specs are certainly not conservative. 400 real world watts with some real bottom will probably be to much. 80 bucks isn't a lot of money though and 800 watts into a 1*15 + 4*10 is a lot of noise, so you might not even reach that point.

Did you do the TB research on wether an extra 15 is helpful under a 4*10? You might want to look for an extra 4*10.

I've used this cab at a local festival. A hire co. here has Behringer 300w bass head & the 115 & 410 cabs.
TBH, they sound pretty good & they've been used & abused by all sorts since the hire co. got 'em-about 6 or 7 yrs ago!
I know the amp tech that works for 'em & he says he's done nothing more than a regular service & reports NO breakdowns!
Amazing really.
They use them when the ' better quality' gear is all hired out & they still need gear.
It's heavy as........made outta mdf afaik, & probly wouldn't handle the pwr actually listed on the cab, but, if ya don't mind the weight & get 'em @ a good $, can't hurt imo.

I mean, I wouldn't coz weight & THE BERG tone has me in its grip. But just sayin'...... especially if using it with another cab & for real cheap.
If I were you, I'd shop around to see what else might be available in the same $ range. Then, if it seems ok...its up to you
Make sure you play thru it at a decent volume prior to shelling out any $$.
+1 on it being a cab you'd leave in one place-whether it's a venue or rehearsal room! Heavy SOB!

I''m no expert in these matters, some on here should be able to provide a more concrete answer, but I'd say about 250-300w at most. But that's still a fair amount.
My Mesa 12" cab i's built with a 300w amp built into it as a combo, but it'll only handle about 1/2 the power really, before it starts to 'complain' ;-D

It pairs well with the Behringer BX4500H head, which is really about 300w (to my ears) at 4 ohms. Just be VERY careful with that cab if you're going to pump 800w into it. Make no sudden movements with the EQ, especially with the VOULME and BASS knobs. If it starts squealin, back off. For 80 bucks it's a decent cab.

I'm going to pump about 400w into it. It'll be paired with one more 8omhs cab, so they will take 800w both

You will be sure its only 300 watt or less, depending on EQ. If you want this rig to be able to handle other people abusing it this is not a good choice at all, even for 80 bucks. Power specs for most manufacturers don't aply for digging in on an open E string with any boost of the bass. 400 real watt's is a lot to handle for any 15" speaker, let alone a Behringer.
