Behringer BX 4500 Ultra Bass

Love to hear your comments on this amp. Good vs Crap?

Its in the practice space so I use it only for weekly practices. Mounted on a large cabinet. 412 or 810. I'll count that next week. Play an active bass through it, so I back off the bass some, increase treble, blend the dials between. Not terrible, but prefer the sound of my GK115.

Played with the "ultrabass" button, that plays an octave lower. Not much need and it cuts output.

We've run the combo through the PA for outdoor venues, but thinking I might hijack this larger amp depending on weight, to take the pressure off the PA.

I have a 1800 model that I run on a 2x15 Traynor cabinet and will be using it as a power amp for my PA mains until after Christmas and can rechannel my money back to GAS. I have had many people warn be about how undependable Behringer can be. I only got it because it was a good used deal while my Peavey MKIV was overhauled.

I had one briefly. Didn't much care for the tone. I found it kinda dull and uninspiring. No comment's on it's reliability as I haven't had it long. There are probably other amps that are more responsive but you'd have to pay more.

I played through one at a practice space a couple times. I would consider it just that.....a practice space amp! I couldn't get anything pleasing out of it. Yeah, it was loud and has a lot of eq options (none that worked for me though). That Ultrabass feature is garbage! If they took the time to do some real R&D, they could possibly have a nice amp. Can't speak on it's reliability but I know a cat who owns one. He's had it for several years now and has had no issues with it.

A friend of mine has one of these, paired with two Behringer cabs, the Aluminium coned 1x15 and 2x10. None of that equipment has failed him, and he's had it for years. Sounds pretty good to me, used his stack a few times myself.

Behringer seems to have a bad rep, and I get why. I've read plenty of stories about their stuff failing, but there's plenty stories out there of people with no problems.

Anthony.

I have one and have played through a pair of DB cabs with it many times. It was a very solid $200 purchase. The Octaver gets weird way down low but most of them do. I keep all the optional buttons off and just run it clean and it does the job.
