Behringer BXL300 or Redsub BE100

Hi guys,

After a couple years not playing I've decided to drag my beat up ol 5 string from the depths and join a band with some friends. My little 20w Orange amp no longer cuts it so I'm looking at getting a bigger amp.for practice and small gigs.

I'm looking at the behringer and redsub as I'm very limited on budget (less than £200)

I don't know anything about redsub but I've heard mixed reviews on behringer, the 300w is nice but I've heard that may not be true exactly.

Anywho, any thoughts on these two are much appreciated

It really depends on your imperative. What style of music do you play? How loud is the drummer you have to compete with?

Behringer amps are generally rather loud, even the combos for the most part. I wouldn't be surprised if that little sucker could mix ok with a group. I used a 120w Behringer in high school which was fine in with a tasteful band.

They're also usually quite reliable for the most part as long as you don't bully them. I ran a Behringer stack with no issues for 4 years and the only reason that unit died was because I was running a bad ohm load out of it. That was my fault, not the amp.

You won't have to go far to find people hating on Behringer though and they'll tell you to buy almost anything else. You've just got to decide for yourself whether the person who is telling you the horror story actually has cause, or is just a knife-twisting friend of a friend if you get my meaning. I'm not trying to say that there are no quality control issues with the brand, but I personally feel most people who wail on Behringer do it based on hearsay or snobbery.

I've never heard of a Redsub.

Cheers for the reply. It is refreshing to see someone not saying straight away to avoid the behringer.

We play hard rock type stuff mostly.

Our guitarist is using a 250w Marshall setup and our drummer is quote loud, not really sure how to measure the loudness of the drums lol.
