I have a chance to buy the head and matching 4x10 cab used locally. I have never heard of this brand. May I have your opinions?
TIA

You're going to hear a lot of people here tell you not to buy Behringer. For the most part, they are gear snobs and can't stand good quality stuff being sold at a decent price. Don't listen to them. They make bass playing seem like an elitist hobby in which only the wealthiest people can achieve anything.

But, in my experience, Behringer amps well made and sound excellent. They are German designed and made somewhere in Asia, I believe. I have a combo and it's lasted me years - I wouldn't swap it for anything else.

If you're getting a good price for the head and cab, go for it. Check out how much they are going for in stores and make sure you get a bargain.

Cheers!

I have the bx4500h running an avatar 210 and a 115, both neos. The head does fine for me for a rehearsal amp and has never failed. It's a bit on the noisy side (hiss), particularly in the direct out. Seems to have a lot of tone adjustment (ultrabass, etc).

But for the cost you can't go wrong on the head. I think I got mine used for $150 but I don't recall. Can't vouch for the 410 cab.

decent

I have the same head and use it every week for rehearsals. It powers a single DB 1260 (12”, 3-way) cab and does the job at less than ½ volume.
I have also played it through both my DB cabs for a dual, 12” stack (@ 4 ohms) and it powers both cabs nicely.
The octave control tracks ok (not great) but the SHAPE filter is highly usable for quick tone adjustments.
Overall I give it a solid “B” considering the price (200 US brand new).
Pros; Cost, power, features, value.
Cons; Weight, tough to see labels on knobs do to overhang of exterior box, gear snobs frowning upon me.
