Belder Thunder Bass amp, Anyone use one?

I just searched the web and can't seem to find anything about this amp. It's was made in switzerland. I'll try to get some pics up soon. I do have the owners manual. It's 300 watts at 4 ohms and sold originally in a oak 2 space rack. Weighs 22 lbs. Speaker outlet is on the front? First one I've ever seen with this design. No fan but huge cooling fins on back.

We have such a diverse crowd here maybe one of our European brothers or sisters will know something? TIA

I had two way back in the mid/late 80's. One was a Balder, one was rebranded (I assume in North America) as a Nady. Great sounding amps back then, BUT, they used to heat up something fierce and regularly blew output transistors. Keep a fan on it when in use!!!

I had two both mounted in a plastic rack crate with a fan attached, but went to Ashley/Bryston separates after they got stolen from my car after a gig.

After replacing the fuses, with amp top removed, As soon as I started it, sparks about 4" shot up from 2 pairs of transistors, (that I had already observed as not looking like the others). Fuses blew again. So it appears I have 2 sets of 2 transistors now joined together with some nasty looking white residue. The amp is toast. Probably time for burial at sea. Tie a rope on to it and use it for an anchor. The oak 2 space rack will find another use.

If it was made in Europe, wouldn't it have been made for European power requirements, not American?

Europe isn't just one country, so most stuff made in Europe has switchable power.

That's beside the point. Having switchable power doesn't prevent operator error. If it did in fact have switchable power, that wouldn't necessarily prevent the OP from using the wrong power setting.

Won't be anything to do with Europe though.
