Benz shuttle reliability?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone have problems with the shuttle series? Someone in my carvin bx thread mentioned the GB stuff having some similar reliability issues.

I having some issues with noise coming through the outputs (DI and speaker). I have a 9.0 BTW.
But then again, I have a ba-zillion hours and a freakin' ton of gigs on mine.
And it's been moved around a lot as a result. And bumped around a lot as well!
More because of me than the amp really!

So issues with mine? yes, but more from me than the amp itself.
This my second amp, my first was a 6.0 that was rock solid for about a year of heavy gigging. It belongs to a buddy of mine who gigs it regulary with no issues.

Check the GB Shuttle 9.0 discussion thread. Everyone there is totally honest and you'll get a good idea about the amps.

Plus, if there is an issue, GB is IME pretty much the best with customer service.

To directly answer your question though, I haven't heard of any across the board problem whit the Shuttle amps.
Sure you're always gonna have one or two with issues, it happens with every company. But nothing I've read that has been a big problem.

You will always get a bad apple in a bunch. It just happens. I was unlucky to get a Shuttle 9.0 that rocked from side to side on every surface I tried. It also decided to shut down a few times.

BUT - GB service, more so in the USA, is really good. Im based in the UK, and I freaked out so I went for something else.

Id love to see a 9.0 at full tilt (you know, through a 4 ohm load at loud settings) to see what that 900w feels like.

I own a ShuttleMAX 12.0 and gig with it regularly. I've never had any problems with it.

I use a Shuttle 6.0 for the past three years. Only had one problem (messed up tavern power) GB Customer Service took care of that problem like lightening.

I don't get any noise in my amp or DI. In fact, it's one of the best DIs I have used.

A while back someone on TB did a comparison of the Shuttle 6.0 DI and the Countryman. Final results were just about equal.

Plus, Jeff is a great guy and will answer your calls if you need him. Outstanding Customer Service!!!

Just so I didn't mis-lead anyone regarding the noise from mine.
It wasn't doing it for quite sometime. I attribute it to just a ton of gigging and moving it around in the carry bag. It's been packed with all my other gear in the back of my car to/from most gigs.
It's from me more than likely just knocking it around a bit.

I replaced the tube and that corrected it, but came back again.
I have a RA from Genz, but I thought I had some down time to be without it to send it back. But my schedule filled up so I need the amp.

It doesn't do it all the time, and it really not very noticeable on the gig through my cabs too much.
A little tap on the top and I can usually get it to stop.
Maybe I should replace the tube again......might do that tonight.

I've had several with little to no problems... and the problem I had was one of the reasons I am an endorsing artist for them now. After the failure and replacement, Jeff Genzler called me personally to make sure everything was good. Service like that is super rare.

Shuttle 6.0 for 2 years now....

NO PROBLEMS!

Trying to justify a 9.0 to myself, though.

GBE 1200
Shuttle 6,9 and Max12

Zero issues.. and i am rough on my gear.. Very rough...
They have traveled extensively, and played when coming in from ice cold truck to stage and run loud.. and also at outdoor shows in hot Texas day shows where the air being sucked in to cool the amp is 104 degrees..
Not one failure . not one issue.. and im not usually not the lucky type.. if something is going to crash it happens to me...

My shuttle 9 and 12 are my main amps and get equal play time.. and never a glitch...My Max12 is 2 years old the GBE over 3 years... I could say mine have been rock solid!

I should mention that my church's house rig is a GBE1200. Zero problems in the last few years.
And it gets used a lot.

I've never heard of reliability issues with any Genz-Benz product, here or anywhere else.

You sure you aren't thinking of GK??? The MB2-500 had a few issues when it was first released.
