berg HT112 and AE112?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

im looking for another Berg to pair with my HT112 ER/ markbass LMII setup.

I play all kinds of gigs from rock stuff to jazz, so id like a versatile bass sound if possible.

I keep hearing good things about the Ex112 Er, but would it sound just as good (albeit different) if i used an AE112 instead? Would the pairing of the HT and the AE sound alright, or would it be strange? I would love the neo cab, since itd be easier to cart around on the subway.

Thanks

I have a HT112 & MB LMII and giving serious consideration to the new AE212. Same footprint, only 10 lbs heavier, bigger tone, closer to my ear & easier to reach controls.

If you already have one HT112ER, then I would definitely suggest adding a second HT112ER. This sounds better to my ears than mixing and matching the ER with an AE112 (which I also love, but I prefer either the AE112/AE112 or the HT112ER/HT112ER stack to the HT112ER/AE112 pairing).

Tom I have an old ht112 with my ae112 and I like how it sounds, but are you saying another ae112 would sound even better!? I like the way the ht112 helps punch through sometimes, but maybe a 2xae112 stack would be better.

Yes, I do think that a second AE112 would sound better than the HT112/AE112 stack. Of course, this may be subjective, so YMMV.

You know what Tom, I just did some more testing, and I think you may be right. Two cabs throwing the same voice might be better.
