Berg HT115 vs. HT210: Best Standalone Cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
I hate that I even have to post a thread like this, but here it goes... I might need to sell one of my Berg cabs soon for financial reasons and I'm curious what your opinions are about the 210 and 115 as standalone cabs. I love them both and am having a really hard time deciding which I would sell. I'd be using the cab for both electric and upright, mostly jazz, funk, fusion, & rock styles, with my Shuttle 9.0 head. Any thoughts? Thanks

I like that idea and that's usually how I operate, but this time it's really down to the wire. I'm leaning towards keeping the 115 right now, but not sure.

OK which one do you take to practice?
No science here.

Both actually. Just depends on the day.

I've been doing some research and it seems that the 115s are significantly harder to come by than the 210s, so maybe if I sold the 210 I wouldn't have too hard a time finding another one in the future.

I'd cast a vote for keeping the HT115 -- it seems counter-intuitive, but (IMO) the 115 is more balanced sounding than the HT210 and IIRC lighter weight.

Thanks lo-freq and KJ, added a poll thanks to you guys.

The 115 is definitely a good bit lighter.

That's an extremely tough call, but fortunately (at least IME), both cabs sound fairly similar.

I voted HT210 because that's what I ended up keeping, but I agree that the 115 is both lighter and "rarer", so for those reasons maybe it's a better choice for you... I kept the 210 because it was *slightly* punchier, a little louder, and absolutely KILLS with my GK 1001RB2. The GK/HT115 was a great pairing too, but the 210 edged it out ever so slightly.

Unfortunately, it's been almost two years since I've used that rig

I own the pair and when I only need one of them, I take the HT115.

+1 The HT115 holds its own in a mix better, though two HT210's do just fine.

Thanks guys,
I've been using the 115 on the past couple gigs and really dig it! So the 210 will have to go. I appreciate the help

Another +1. Oddly, the HT210 has bigger lows but less midrange than the HT115.

But I'd be happy with either as standalone... and I envy the fact that you can get by with just one!

Yeah, I used to haul both to gigs, but when there's PA support there's really no need for 2 cabs (for me anyways). Even when there's no PA, either cab can pretty much hold its own. I figure that I can always get another one in the future.

Tom,

how do you think a Ht112ER would go against a HT115 ?

sorry for the slight O/T.

+1 for keeping the HT115. I had a pair of those, and they totally rocked. I wish I would have kept them.

That, Sir, is an excellent question.

I'd say keep the 210, but only if you sell HT115 to me!

But seriously... sell me that HT115

Ok, ok... really serious now... I'd vote for you to keep the HT115 for all reasons stated above.

I agree with what the majority seems to feel here. Keep the HT115!

I'm lucky enough to own a pair of HT115's. They are amazing!

Though I'm curious also.....how well does that HT112ER hold its own against the HT115? Has anyone done this comparison?
