Berg IP112ER with other cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone pair the IP112ER with anything other than the EX/HT112ER?

Is the output to the ext. cab 8 ohm?

Would it be an acceptable match to the old HT210 or HT115?

Yes, any other 8 ohm cabs will work as an ext to the IP112ER but the DSP settings are programmed to best work with another HT112ER or EX112ER. I have heard a HS210 with the IP112ER and sounds pretty good as well as an alternative.

Why not ask Jim B? No one knows his cabs better than him.

I use the original IP-112, not the ER version. I've had good results using an EA CXL-112 or VL-110 as a second cabinet.

Yes, any 8ohm cab will work. However, the DSP is voiced for a second ER cab (if I remember correctly, there is a 'one cab/two cab' DSP setting on the IP112 (versus the 'DSP on or off' setting on the IP310). If there is any 'combo amp' type unit that I would make sure I used the recommended extension cab for which the whole system was tuned for with that DSP, it would be the IP112

I have had 2 of Jim,s IP112,s and still have one and yes the DSP is programmed for the IP by itself and with a HT or EX 112 but it will work with any 8 ohm cab.I have used it a Accugrrove Tri 112L and also with a Berg Ht210s and works fine. For me the DSP Jim has programmed into my IP is a little too much EQ for me on the Low end so I cut the lows to keep it from being too Boomy.Jim recommends setting EQ Flat but in my case I cut the lows slightly so in my opinion the programmed EQ is not to my liking. With a good pre amp you will set it the way you like it any way to get your sound that is why there are Preamps anyway!Hope this answers your question?I have also used it with Berg a HT112 what it was designed to be used with and I myself can,t really tell any difference once it gets up to gig volume.

I have used the IP112 as an extension for my GK MB150 combo (using the line out to the Berg). That worked very well. However, I am interested in what others have to say about this. If my Epi UL115 and the IP were in the same space, I would have tried that combo already.
