I used that combination for a few yrs- SUPERB ALMOST Unbeatable!!!!!!

In fact it IS unbeatable if U R after PUNCH & a multiple 10" driver set up.

I ONLY sold my NV610 as I have a NV215 also & it suited MY needs better. So now I use the SVTII > NV215 for the good size gigs.
MAN - push that SVT2 past 4.5 on it's dial & the OD thru that NV610 is delicious.

Dont have a berg 610, but use my svt II heads with berg nv215. Great loud thick tone. I think with 610 youll also be pleased.

I've been gigging my SVT-II non pro/NV610 rig for years. Its amazing, If your into the SVT through a fridge tone, feel and general vibe, it doesn't get much better than this pairing.

Only negative I can think of is: All the tube powered SVT's are pretty darn heavy and unless I'm playing somewhere I can crank up a bit I usually prefer my old Ampeg V4 with my NV610.

I've played the NV610 some with a Walkabout, but never had the chance to pair it with the SVTII. I'm pretty confident that would produce the rock tone of the gods.

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I've got an SVT-4 pro as well. Might just put the pair in a 12 space roller-rack and keep it on the floor. Make load-in out easier. I'm also a little concerned about the II-2 in situations where I need to run a little quieter I.e. say equal to about 200 or so watts of Solid State power.

Thanks again.

I run a II non-pro into an NV610. As anderbass has said, it's the SVT -> fridge tone and feel, but I hear a bit deeper low end than the fridge provides. That's one of the reasons I love the rig.
It's not going to be extremely low/deep like a ported cab, but that's not what I'm looking for in this rig. It's pure rock heaven.

I also run and SVPCL and SS poweramp into the cab and it sounds like the same family of tone, but the all tube SVT-II cannot be duplicated for tube tone, harmonics, and feel, compared to a SS or hybrid rig.

The NV610 is also pretty nice to schlep for its size.

You've got a great cab. There are plenty of good amps that will sound great driving it.

That's my rig. I love it!
The only negatives I can think of is weight and it gets LOUD before it starts to break up. For me it's great because I LOVE the clean, fat, warm tube sound and use a Fulltone Bassdrive for some overdrive. If you're looking for that power tube overdrive all of the time you might deafen your bandmates.

I run an SVT-II nonpro into a Genz Benz 610 and it sounds clean and absolutely huge. No complaints except for the lack of gain control, but the cleans that it allows without are wonderful. I do use a Bass VT for some raunchy distortion and that SVT just eats it up and makes it sound incredibly round and huge.

Don't be surprised if it doesn't seem all that special playing solo at home, you wont fully appreciate that SVT-II/NV610 rig can do until you gig it with a loud band.

I wanted to provide feedback to this since I'm the one who started this thread. I do appreciate all the feedback.

I am now two shows into using the NV610 with the SVTII and it was all and more that was described here. While I love the tone I'm getting with the combo the power of the SVTII is far more than I need with the efficiency of the NV610. Some earlier mentioned using a V4...I think that would be a great combination as well. I haven't done it yet, as I need to verify the ohm ratings but I know someone with a early 70's B15s head (60watts) and I'm almost tempted to try this with the Berg if they match up.

We have a show in a large venue in Jan. opening for David Allan Coe and I will be using the SVTII with the Berg for that event, obviously there will be good FOH support in this setting. This will have then given me a fully rounded trial for this combination as I'll have tested it in medium & large clubs and an civic-center setting. So far seems to be winning combination.

Loving the Berg cabinet.

Thanks again for all your help, it's appreciated.

Hey glad you liked it, I know the V4/V4B both have a switch you can set to 2, 4 or 8ohm. My V4 will usually cover small to medium sized room although I dont like that its nearly 3 inches wider than my NV610.

I like my SVT-II better when I can crank it a bit, but I've found using a VT pedal gives me back some of that tone and feel at lower volume gigs.

The NV610/V4-B is a great combination, and the V4-B is certainly an easier schlep than the SVT if you don't need that much power.

Glad you like the cab, though I'm not remotely surprised
