In your opinion is the berg worth the approx. $300 over the GK, and why or why not?

I would like to ear opinions too, since I can't possible try both in same situations (room, amps, bass) I don't know anybody or store that has this 2 on display to try.

It is hard to go wrong with Berg. I don't know many people who have regretted buying their cabs. If you're on a budget it seems like the GK is a good value. I own an AE112, haven't played a GK 112 Neo but would like to hear one. None in my local stores though.

Good question! Haven't heard the GK 112Neo. But I don't believe I've ever heard a GK in any size/configuration that sounded as good or better than a Bergantino. Just sayin. ...I LOVE my AE410 Bergie. It waaaay outperforms a GK410 IMO. But the 112 cabs might bridge the gap. Hmmmm. Subscribed.

Have an AE112 and love it. i can go hi-fi or roll back the tweet and treble and get a good old skool sound. It's very portable and I can get loud with my TB500 and never worry about the speaker. Worth every penny unlike some cheap cab makers masquerading as boutique builders...you know who I am talking about.

That said...GK stuff is great value. I have had GK equipment (2x10 combo, RB head) and liked it and it was reliable. I sold it for more high end equipment.

I started drinking the Bergantino Cool Aid in December. Among 2 others I bought an AE112. Never heard a single 12 box quite like it. It was expensive though looking back. I'm easily gassed so only time will tell for me.

I would reserve the kool aid for the believers in the other cab. Bergs deliver the goods. Just check out how many berg cabs are for sale vs. the other in the classifieds.

I've never tried the Berg. I'm sure it's great. I have owned a number of high end 1x12's and the GK hangs with the best of them. It's a big cab (for a 1x12) with a big sound (for a 1x12).

This is an excellent comparison, and an excellent question. In a knock-down, drag-out, only one survives fight to the death, I do think that the Berg would win. But the GK would go all 12 rounds. Ultimately, the Bergantino tweeter/crossover win the day. In addition, the Berg will take pretty much all the power you want to throw at it (within reason), but the GK does reach a point where you can tell it doesn't want to be pushed harder (though that's well beyond "gig volume" IME/IMHO). I'll give the nod to the GK for more balanced response throughout the lows/mids, and it has an even more powerful sounding low end (the Neo112-II is in between the HT112-ER and the AE112 in this regard).

So, my overall champ would be the Berg, but if you include the bang for the buck factor, then the GK wins, for sure.

Neo 112's

I used to have a GK Neo 410 and I sold it for two Neo 112's. I use the GK MB Fusion amp and I am very happy with the sound. Also the portability is great as well. Price being what it is the GK products are reasonable in my opinion.

Herein lies an excellent example of how/why the concept of "best" - at least as it regards gear - will forever remain a personal and subjective judgment. For although the specs can be objectively measured and reported, the evaluation of those characteristics is always dependent upon one's individual priorities and needs.

In this case, although the AE112 may edge out the Neo 112-II, at least on paper, for my particular preferences the GK is definitely more suitable. The relative price break is just icing on the cake...

Absolutely! I could see many players who prefer the Neo112-II over the AE112.
