Bergantino AE410 hissing

I've haven't really thought about it much but my AE410 hisses quite a bit with the tweeter set flat and the volume and gain on my Markbass F500 set at 12 o'clock. Is this normal? I'll try and get audio of the hissing sometimes soon. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to take it on a gig so I can't say if it's that significant in a band situation but playing alone it's quite loud. It's not the head because I've tried others.

have you tried the cab w/ another amp? have you tried plugging in another bass? does the hissing happen when the bass isnt plugged in?

the few MB heads i've tried and used were on the hissy side for my tastes, but other people have not.

Cabs don't hiss. Amps do.

Methinks I fixed it... and I kinda feel dumb for not realizing this for months .

I run through my effects board and my looper's volume control was pretty damn near off so I had to crank the amp to compensate. Once I turned up to volume on there I could lower it on the amp and now it's not hissing anymore . Thanks for the heads up Bill; Cabs apparently don't hiss, but amps sure can!

The F1 I had was the hissiest amp I'd ever owned.

My old MIJ P bass wasnt shielded amazingly well, but I never noticed it massively until I used the HS410 and had the tweet up about halfway....crazy hiss and buzz. That was with a LM3, set flat. Never really looked into it much as I sold the cab, and the bass was fine with other amps/cabs. Could have been a power issue.

Cabs don't hiss. The Markbass stuff is also quite quiet... just a small amount of hi freq hiss that does not increase with volume. My guess is your other amps and cabs didn't have enough full range response to reproduce other issues in your signal chain. Just like with technique, an articulate, clean, widely voiced full range rig can really 'amplify' problems that you didn't realize you had with other gear
