Hi guys I am going to buy a 4 ohm 4x10 cab and I'm considering which of these cabs (ae410 & golight) to buy. SWR is cheaper and avaliable here. Bergantino is not avaliable and I have to order it from UK. Should I save more money and buy the Bergantino or buy SWR? |

As for SWR, I briefly owned a Triad and, like I said briefly owned it - just never cared for it. So I would say go with the Berg!

a few months back, i had the chance to play through some version of the swr golight and an ae410. i don't recall if the swr was 8ohm or 4ohm, or the marcus miller version or not. i used an old gk 800rb for the amp to power either.
the swr sounded like icepicks being driven into my eardrums. i wasn't able to compare it with a ceramic swr cabinet, though i know those are icepick-y, too.
the berg ae410 was much smoother, though compared to an hs410 it had more high mid "honk," which might have been due to the neo drivers.
my personal preference was the hs410, but among the swr neo 410, an aguilar 410 (don't know which), berg ae410, and berg ae212, i'd have gone with the ae410 (though the ae212 has a very similar voice, so it might have been close).
given that you have an swr amp, i suppose that you might have a different opinion on the "swr sound," so add salt to taste. |

| | | | Have never read this comparison here but have read many positive reports from owners of these cabs individualy
As a Berg owner, I think Jim walks on water, but that SWR is amazingly light and well balanced |

| | Supporting Member | | | | | I currently own a new SWR GoLight 410 and a SWR SM 400 and it sounds good to me. I will say that I have tried other heads on this cab and none sounded as good as the SWR head does. It took me about an afternoon to dial it in to where I finally was ok with it. I was still not sure though. So I had a MarkBass LM800, and hooked it up and played it for a while. It sounded ok, but lacked Umph. Tried an Ashdown and sounded like crap. Tried an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro and it was ok. So I reconnected the SWR and it sounded much better. So I went to bed and got up the next day and switched her on and thought this sounds very nice. I am satisfied with my sound. It has the SWR Umph and does not sound like piercing needles to my ears. I picked up a Goliath 210 off Craigslist for $75! Stacked her on top and sounds even better!
My GoLight cab is an 8 ohm and along with my goliath 210, take the amp down to 4 and I get a full 500 watts of pant flapping power!
But the bottom line is, you will have to try it for yourself. One man's opinion may not be the same for another (ya know...).

Best rig I've ever played through! I got to try a TecAmp Puma and Markbass LMII and it still sounded fantastic!

BUT, it does depend on what you're powering it with and what your tone goals are. It loves Thunderfunks and TC 450s, I imagine it would rule with a Mesa Carbine. Naturally warm mid punchy amps rule with this cab. But if your into more of a hi-fi sound it might disappoint.
