I have searched all the threads regarding bergantino and can't find the info I want. Let me tell you my current background to help answer my question.
I play in a hard rock band. Both guitarists play half stacks, Marshall and a Carvin V3. My drummer is loud. I like CLEAN present ROUND tone with a full bottom end to compliment my drummer. I currently use a Carvin b1500 through a berg NV215 and love it. I play Warwicks almost exclusively all four strings and I have an MTD KZX 5 I occasionally use.
I also have a markbass LM2 and 2 markbass 102p (2x10 cabs) that I use occasionally also. I just sold my Bergantino ht322.
Having said that, I bought one of the final run Thunderfunk 550b heads and am trying to pair it up with a new berg cab. I hear with the TF750, the AE410 kills. So.........AE410, HS410 or NV610? There's my problem! I am leaning towards a 4x10 only because I already have the NV215....which I love........I have also considered the NV412. Biggest problem is I can't try all 4 cabs out! Alpha music in Virginia Beach is not really carrying alot of them and JIVE sound does not seem to have all 4 in stock? I live in Richmond VA.....so 2 hours from DC..........HELP?

Kjung will be in here in a moment to clarify.

I lucked into getting my Berg NV215 when I decided to try a friends rig: TF 550B w/ the switch and NV215. After falling in love w/ it, he told me the rig was for sale at a price I couldn't walk away from. I thought it was the amp that I wanted... turns out it was the cab that had me hooked. After much comparison and real band experimentation, I found the 550B to be expendable. I tried an SVT 4 and SWR and MUCH preferred my Carvin B1500. I've since went to GB Shuttle 6.0s (lightened my racks weight considerably), but I can't say that they sound better than the B1500.
If I were you, I'd stay w/ what you know and like: Berg NV series cabs. I just received a NV425 yesterday (15 and 3x10), It is perfect for my needs: a cab for my effects, the 215 will be ran clean. The 425 has less of the round, warm bottom that the 215 has, BUT the brightness and punch of the 10s is there, EXACTLY what I wanted to make my fuzz and octave pedals, etc standout.
There's a guy in the amp forum that has owned and reviewed just about every Berg cabinet ever built. Try looking in the big cabs club threads.

To be honest, the only time I tried the two cabs together it was way over the top in that a single NV fills the stage so well (with my SVT VR) - and my guitarist uses a full Marshall Hendrix reissue stack. At an outdoor stage there is always extra monitoring so in my case one is sufficient. What I have found valuable is the option to choose which cabinet to suit the room we are playing in or the style of music. In one concrete room the 215 sounds better to my ears. If I had to have only one cab it would be the NV215 without a doubt, although the NV610 is a very close second. |

The guitarist and I had plenty of power and cabs so our band sounded great. Most of the other bands sound suffered horribly. I'd rather be prepared for anything.... I can always turn down right?

For the TF, I would go with the 412 since it has a bit more grind/aggressiveness in the upper mids which should compliment the smooth tone of that head. |

All the NV's are great - but that 412 is incredible! |

Both punch through the mix really well. I had the modular HS410 (2xHS210s) and stacked it vertical, but now I have an AE410 and stack a AE210 on top when I need (want) it. Bergs rock, not sure you can go wrong with either, but you should choose based on your tone goals.

Plenty of bottom end too, just as much bottom as my pair of ported 15's tuned to 40Hz. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
