Bergantino HS410 - your oppinions please

Hi folks, I have come once again to enlist your expertise. My current set-up is a Mesa Boogie 400+ and an American Standard five string Jazz, up until this morning I used an Ampeg 810e (new model made in china), I sold it 10 hours ago. I loved the tightness of the low mids that the Ampeg had however I did not like the lack of preciseness and somewhat muddy tone. Recently there was an used Bergantino NV610 for sale in my area, it sold rather quickly and I did not get a chance to get a hold of it. A similar cab has come on the used market – a Bergantino HS410.

Does anyone have any experiences with the Bergantino HS410 that they can share? I understand that it is a ported cab, this concerns me a bit – tube heads seem to prefer sealed cabs (having said that the Mesa 400+ was matched well to a ported 2 x 15 cab).

The Bergantino HS410 is a slime design (about 15” deep), does this mean it will low end performance? Are there any “bump” frequencies (a la Eden XLT)?

Any info is greatly appreciated, oh yeah – the seller wants $750 – that seems fair?, correct?

Beardedclam,

I have never owned or played through an HS410, but I have read alot about them. The HS410 was the successor to the discontinued Sadowsky SA410 which was made for tube heads. The SA410 was designed and build by Jim Bergantino for Sadowsky. Players have commented that the HS410 works great with tube heads.

I have no first hand experiences with one. But from what I'm told they are a loud cab. Dare I say , good for rock. I'd expect good upper mids, but being a bit smoother in upper mids than say the neo speakered AE410 cab by Bergantino. I'm sure some guys with first hand knowledge will be along soon to comment. If you like the SVT810 and want some extra clarity it would seem to me this would be a good direction for you. The HS410 will go lower than the SVT but believe it is not a very low end rich cab by vented cab standards. If you can get one to try used and local...I'd give it a try.

Best 410 cab on the market. I use it with a variety of tube amps and it performs wonderfully.

It's the cab I use.I got it to pair with my Aguilar 751 but now use a Mesa M9 with it and love it.

I think $750 is a very fair price.
