Bergantino news

Got this today in an email from Bass Specialties and thought I would pass it along:

First up - prices on all of the AE cabinets will go up effective on March 1! Along with the new pricing, there will be a slight re-design of the AE210 cab
next, believe it or not, Bergantino is phasing out all non-Neo cabinets - this means that the VERY popular HT112ER, will soon be obsolete, along with the EX112ER, the HS210, and the HS410 - supplies on these discontinued cabs is very limited and the remaining stock will not be discounted

are the NV series neo? I've always kinda coveted the 4x12 and the 6x10.

Yea I'm a little disheartened at the loss of the IP series and the NVs...unless the NVs are neo...thankfully I just ordered my AE212, so I'm safe from the price hike

Judging by their weight I'm guessing they're not neo.....

The HT112ER and the EX112er are not Neo cabs, just to clarify.

I would be astounded if they drop the NV series- unless maybe there will be an NVAE????
Can't find a mention of this anywhere else, not even on the Bergantino site but where there's smoke.....

I can understand the price increases. The cost of raw materials (including the fuel to ship them) is going through the roof. Just look at the price of copper in the last 18 months! As for the neo's, I can only say, enjoy them while you can. Neodymium is a reasonably rare material and worldwide demand for it is skyrocketing. I see the price of these drivers going nowhere but up in the not too distant future.

If this is true, I'm sure glad I picked up my HT/EX pair in September!

Wow... I got an email from my "local" (well, same country..) Berg dealer, Club Bass in Toronto, mentioning the price increase. Nothing about the HT/EX, though when I went on their site they show the HT/EX as discontinued.

I'd been on the fence about either adding an EX to my existing HT112ER or going for an AE212... this pushed me over the edge and I ordered an EX while I still can. The HT is such a great little box, I'm sorry to see it go. I was also saddened to see the IP series go away. I had hoped he had a better idea for that series, and maybe he does.

Now, if the *NV* series goes away I'll be SEVERELY disappointed. The NV610 to me is the best bass cabinet ever, and I'd hate to see it change in any way. Now if Jim's figured a way to shave 35 pounds off it without changing the tone at ALL, I'll change my tune.

Crazy move. I know a lot of players who still prefer ceramic cabs, no matter what the weight/tone arguments are.

Thanks for the info on neo prices as well. Surely neo cabs can't get anymore expensive?!

From the Club Bass notice (reinforcing what R Baer said...):

"The cost of neodymium magnets will continue to rise as world wide demand for this rare earth material rockets. China is now holding back this material for auto manufacturers who will use it for their electric cars.
We expect to see price increases from more U.S. cabinet manufacturers this year"

The AE series is the only line from Jim that is Neo. If it is true that the world prices of neodymium is on the rise, then yes, it could be true that he discontinuing that line. As for the HS, NV and HS series, they are not Neo. I can't see Jim getting rid of those.

This seems to be a contradiction

I think you've got it the wrong way around...

I think I'll be keeping my HS210s for a while yet, then...!

According to the site http://www.bergantino.com/ HS210 has 56oz. magnets. That's not neo.
