Bergantino NV610

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone uses their NV610 regularly with a solid state amp as opposed to tubes and what they think of the sound they get from it when they do?

I know they are a sealed cabinet that sound incredible with Tube amps and am just wondering if they sound as good with solid state. Even if you have only just played through one on occasion with a solid state amp, what did you think of it?

PS: Please specify what amp you were playing through it also. In particular, if anyone has played any GK heads through it, like the 1001 RB II, I'd love to hear from you...

These are one of the nicest cabs made.

I played a AG500S, through a NV610, and it sounded great.

Also got to run a Ampeg SVT VR through it also. ( even better)

I prefer the NV215, but if I was using a 610 it would be it.

Had the NV610 have now got the NV412.

The GK 1001 really shone with the 610, very punchy. Through these cabs I have used a GK1001 RBII, LM3, Shuttlemax 6 and Mesa M9 and all sounded great.

I think the NV series pretty much work well with any amp. Great cabs.

Cheers for the responses guys, very good to hear. I know these Berg cabs are awesome, I played my NV610 on the weekend with the band for the first time and was blown away. I've just ordered a GK 1001RB II to drive it, as I'm making the switch back to solid state.

I know it sounds great with tubes and it's sealed design makes it the "ampeg fridge killer", but it's good to hear that it still sounds incredible with solid state heads of all types. I'm betting that there aren't many heads out there that don't sound great through this cab.

Here's my "faux SVT", easily my number one bass rig:

SansAmp RBI and SansAmp RPM run in parallel
Crown XTi 2000 power amp (or Stewart World 2.1)
Berg NV610

Yes, it's solid state... but the SansAmps do a darn good job of emulating tubes IMHO, and the great advantage is that I get the same level of overdrive whether I'm playing quiet or loud.

I've tried amps before that i didn't think sounded that great through the NV610, but I think there are lots of amps that sound killer through it.

I use/used an Aguilar DB750, Mesa M9, Mesa Titan V12, G-K 800RB,
and old Traynor ss heads through the NV610 and all sound killer.

I usually couple mine with an SVT, but it sounds awesome with my RB800 too

That's a combo I'd like to hear. Always dug the Trace SMX amps.

Aguilar AG500 sounds epic with them, as well as my Boogie BB750.

I have owned 3 of these since they came out and gigged & recorded heavily with the following:

Ashdown ABM EVO II 500
BBE Bmax SS + Power amp
Demeter HBP-1 + Power amp
Hartke LH1000
Aguilar DB750
Eden Navigator + Power Amp
Ampeg SVP-Pro + Power amp

The best results were with the Ashdown & the Ampeg, however all of the above were some variety of wonderful. This is the best cabinet available for money. Sealed, ported, whatever.
