Just wondering if anyone has tried or has any thoughts on this combination ?
Would this combo work for a versatile setup covering anything from pop, rock, funk etc ?
I like the sound of the NV610 for it's punch, and classic but still fairly clear and defined tone in comparison to other classic sealed cabs.
However, I have the Heart Rock which is all Solid State and I know people tend to prefer the NV cabs with Tube heads.
I've read somewhere that Lead Sleds like the Heart Rock can make these cabs sing as well. Any truth in this ?

Even though it's tube emulation rather than actual tubes, it makes for the greatest bass rig I've ever played.
Well... a vintage SVT run in the sweet spot sounds better, but the solid state rig gives the same level of overdrive at any volume (and weighs a lot less) |

Tube heads can be finicky in the world of ported tweetered cabs but the NV will happily accept any amp you pair it with. I have used all kinds of amps (tube, hybrid, all ss) with my 610 and every single one sounded great. And it is not "power hungry" at all. I find it to be average in sensitivity. It sounds good at soft volumes where some cabs just dont.
I dont have any experience with the heart rock but I have no doubt that it will work well with the 610. Its more a matter of does the amp have what you need and is the sound of a sealed tweeterless cab for you?

The clips I've heard of the NV610 sounded amazing and had a fair bit of upper midrange frequencies present, but chimey...no.

Dan K. | Is the Heart Core more coloured than the Heart Rock ?

The Heart-Core is, IME/IMHO, very uncolored and neutral. I own one, and I used to own a Heart-Rock, but I sold the Heart-Rock because I couldn't get it to sound as good as the Heart-Core (and I had a hart time dialing things in with EQ). However, I recently received a Heart-Rock II in for review, and while I have not been able to directly A/B it to the original Heart-Rock, from my recollection, the HR II is a lot closer to the HC, and one helluva good amp. The original HR is very good, too, just not as in tune with my personal preferences. The HR II makes me very happy, though. I have not tried it with the NV610, but if you like the sound of the NV610, and you are going for more "solid state dynamics and authority" versus "tube harmonics/grit/squish/whatever," then I would think that you'd be quite happy with the combination.
