I wouldn't be suprised if we see less bass oriented stuff from Jim and more of a push towards p/a gear...
I just don't think there have been enough sales of his cabs to warrant more models.
Jim's knowledge and experience would lend itself well to the P/a world.
Just thinking out loud here.

I wish I had room for another NV610.

He has a well-established rep as a boutique bass cab guy (and I very much want him to continue!), but he certainly has the skill to do top-quality PA cabs.

Thumbs up

The NV610 is the best gig cab I've ever owned, used, or heard. It absolutely kills, even at high volume.

For smaller gigs/rehearsals/jams I have a pair of HS210 cabs, and a pair of HT112ERs.

In the past I've owned a red tolex NV610 (possibly the 1st NV610 made, I never shoulda sold it), HT212, HT310, and HT210/HT115 stack. All great stuff, but ya know how GAS goes.

Here's to ya, Jim.

Edit: Baird6869 mentioned his Sadowsky SA410... I owned one of those, too! Killer cab just like the others, but went away when I went back to the NV610.

Competing in todays internet world will see many of our favorite manufacturers having to be limbre and estute.
Competing against internet sites, where price is king has put many boutique manufacturers in trouble... I don't wish this on anyone, but how do you compete not only with off-shore manufacturers, but with on-line sales?
How many of us have gone into a bricks and blocks store to try out a piece of equipment, only to buy on-line?
And how can a brick and block store compete against Amazon?
Diversification is the jkey to success/prosperity.

all your arguments are what make boutique builders great.

I don't know if it was the first NV610 made b/c there a prototype NV610 that my friend owned and then sold to another friend (not sure who has it now) but it wasn't tolex. It was an early version of the NV610.

It'd be nice to see an AE322. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

I remember a red tolex one at Cory's old shop years ago.

I bought my red one from a Cory (Corey?) who had a shop up in MA.

I wound up selling to a TBer (I forget who, but he has a cool hot rod upright) when my bad back acted up. But a year later I felt better and was rockin' a black tolex NV610.

Wish I remembered more details, this gettin' old thing sux.

How many folks here have said that the NV610/412/ is the best cab I ever owned and I shouldn't have sold it? I've read it here many times... heck, it guided me to my NV610!
If more people bought them, I'm sure they would still like make them.

I can't see the NV series completely going away. Maybe we will see a new line that's lighter, more portable, or a different configuration. We are living in a bass era that is continuously evolving faster and faster.

Jim told me last week that the NV412 & NV610 would be going away. Said he had a few of one model in stock, but was out of the other. Suffice it to say once the dealers run out, they'll be gone. He didn't give details, but we have talked at length about how his cabs probably have one of the best reputations in the industry, but that hasn't directly translated into sales. It could be a redesign, or it could just be not enough units moving.

It would be a sad day indeed if Jim was lost to the industry. I have owned several of his cabs and had to import them all unheard - I was never let down by a single one, each was excellent. Sold the NV610 recently because I found I was just using the NV215 all the time. To my ears the NV215 is the cream of them all, I could never fully understand why Jim dropped it. I suppose ultimately it always boils down to supply and demand.

what happens to the guarantee of current owners?
have people run into problems getting past discontinued items repaired?
his cabs do use custom designed speakers, not easy to come by.

I am with you there.

Honestly, since I added 2 AE210s to my Sadowsly SA410, I have not paid any attention to Berg or any other cab manufacturers. I have my sound so why bother looking elsewhere?

A Berg NEO 112/210 would be about the only new cab I would consider.
