Bergie HT112 vs HT112ER vs Epi T112NYC

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi!

For years I played with my Epifani T212 (first edition) for rock bands, other than the aggressive tweeter served my purposes well as a single cabinet solution

Been playing Latin rock/Bluegrass gigs lately, so downsized and got an Epi T112NYC (Eden WT400 or Shuttle 6.0). Still didn't
like the tweeter, so finally purchased a Bergie HT112 which I absolutely love, but there are gigs where I need more oommph but don't want to drag the Epi T212 75 lbs around.

So I've been coupling the Bergie HT112 with the Epi T112 to get a 4 ohm load and more speaker area. Sounds good to my ears, I turn off the Epi tweeter and the the T112 has a much lower bottom end

But . . . . I've been exploring going the Bergie HT1112ER route and selling the Epi T112, and my Talkbass reading have warned me that it is not a good combination to mix those two cabinets. I am sure the Epi T112 and Bergie HT112 both use very similar Emminence 12" ceramic drivers, and the larger size of the Epi box seems to be in the ballpark of the HT112ER.
Seems like folks don't like the HT112 and HT112ER combination

I know mixing the ceramic and neo versions of these cabinets is not a good idea, but could anybody sound off as to what their ears hear, and should I shell out the major bucks to get a Bergie
HT112ER and matching EX112ER combination

Thanks for all input!!!!

Howdy. I had an Epi T112, then got an HT112, then got an HT112ER and I think the HT112 and HT112ER work just fine together (and better than the Epi with either of the 2; the mids work better together with the Bergs). The ER definitely adds low end and oomph for sure, and I would think the ER stack would probably sound great (though I've never heard that stack) since they are mated design-wise. So, I'd suggest getting an HT112ER and see how you like it with the HT112, and if it doesn't work for you, get the EX112ER and sell the HT112 (probably comparable used prices). Or, just buy the ER stack that's currently posted. Good luck, DM
