Best 4x10 cabinet for $500?

Sign in to disble this ad
What is your opinion on the BEST 4x10 bass cab for about 500 bucks?

I've seen there are only a few in this price range - Avatar, Line 6, Acoustic.

Any 410 that stands out in this price range??

Thanks!

I wouldnt buy cabs or heads used. But i think the best bang for buck ratio has got to be acustic. Not the best looking or lightest rigs but very reliable and sound is more than do-able

Why? There is such a huge markup on heads a cabs. I'd almost say I'd never buy new heads and cabs and haven't for years.

Not really. The Carvin BRX10.4 has been compared head to head with the Avatar 410 NEO by other TALKBASS members. Pretty close, but some favored the tone of the Carvin. Either one is a good choice. I don’t bother commenting on used cabs.

AVATAR!

I have a used NEO 4-10 Avatar, it weighs about 60 pounds- that's 40 pounds less that the SWR Goliath 1 it replaced. It handles 600 watts more, goes deeper, and absolutely KILLS it in terms of filling a room with loud full, deep, rich and present bass. Every bassist that hears it, asks me what it is...and then, they order one, too. I have heard live recordings of the band I used to perform with, and it sounds more like two cabinets! I replaced a 1-15 folded horn- 1-12 Mesa cabinet stack with this cabinet, and my band mates love it.

Other 4-10's I've had- all more expensive than the Avatar.
1. Ampeg B-410 HLF
2. GK B-410
3. SWR Goliath 1
4. Acme 4-10

In addition, I have heard no other 4-10 I have played through that compares, in this price range. Dave and company are also great to deal with.
