Best amp for the area of $300-400?

Not acoustic! I hate those, good started just for some noise but IMO they have no tone.

Anyways, New or used. Doesn't matter. I am selling my old tenor saxophone and its worth about that much, and I need a amp soo...

Thanks guys.

VB-2 you can find them in the $450 range. I got mine for $495 at GC on clearance. You're young, eat your Wheaties and you can lug it around.

Are you talking about a amplifier or a combo amp?

I just got a used Ampeg B2R and I LOVE the tone I get out of it. I got it for $300 including a 1-yr warranty on it. For a cab I use a factory restock Acoustic B410. I get plenty loud to play with a band with two loud guitarists and a crazy drummer.

I'd consider used Ampeg heads, and used GK or Hartke cabs.

Also! This may be pointless to post, but I remember you saying you liked Ibanez SR's and I found this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1154

I don't particularly like MarkBass either. I'm a Eden guy, but those are too pricey. I also like the B15Ns but those are too much as well. I also like SWR but don't know about their pricing.

It can be a combo I guess, I'm looking for over 200w tho, I don't think there are many combos that strong.

I would suggest a used GK 700RB. Great sounding, powerful, reliable AND Mark White of the Spin Doctors plays GK (BTW, what time is it?). I LOVE my GK head.

GK heads should be good if you want some growl for R&B stuff, if you like clean, used SWR SM-400 sits right in that range too. Yorkville/Traynor and Peavey both put out pretty reasonable products in that range too, not brand-name stuff but quite versatile for most genres. Ampegs in this price range did not impress me, YMMV though.

Save some more and get something worthwhile, don't let that money burn a hole in your pants.....

If you're a "Eden Guy", then save up and get some Eden.

Thats awesome. Mark is one of my favorite bassists. I'm friends with him on Facebook (but so are 3,000 other people). Anyway, may your quest for tone be a success!

Look into those new 500 watt GK MB212 combos. Not to expensive.
