Best amp head? 7Pro, Bass Terror 1000, or GK2001.

While I still don't know about the cab I'm going to get(fEarful 1515/66 vs Ampeg 8x10), I do need a new amp head.
So I'm looking into 3 options for a lot headroom, and power.
GK2001, Ampeg 7Pro, or Orange Bass Terror... What are your opinions?

I'm playing progressive rock/metal/blues, and sometimes I stand in for a friend in his band, they play jazz and funk, and helping my DJ friend with his dubstep.

I think those are all tonally different from each other. The 2001 would be way overkill. If you want GK, look at the 1001 or 700 or the MB500. You really need to try each of the amps or at least try to find some good sound samples of each to make a decision.

Yep. All good amps for different reasons.

I''ve a 7 pro & am loving it. Was thinking of the BT500, but the extra power & eq &D.I options on the Ampeg sealed it for me.

G-K 2001RB, massive power or not you choose with cabs run. WIDE range of tone choices.

I'm not going to buy an amp before trying it, but I'd like to know what people think about them, because every store that sells them is in a different city, and they don't have the same cab to try it with.

I just got a bt500 and I love it so far, Ive always used Ampeg or Trace elliot before and this is a very different sound. Make sure you try one out they give a very classic sound that you dont have a whole lot of control over with the stock pre amp tubes. Even with upgraded tubes the range of sound using the eq is limited. if you want a wide range of sounds from one unit i wouldnt go with the orange.

Not played the Orange, but between the other two, 7 Pro FTW.

Three totally different flavors of ice cream.

The GK, while edgy, is about as clean and aggressive in the upper mids as an amp can get. a Very "Solid State" sounding amp to my ears, which is not at all a bad thing. Lots of EQ options.

The Orange is incredibly loud, but designed to give you just one sound.... one only.... but the overdrive is delicious

The SVT-7 is a great all-around amp, read my review a few pages back.

You should also be considering the Genz Benz Streamliner 900.... that's about the most popular amp on TB right now.
