What's the best amp head for a hartke 410 cab xl series, other than a hartke. |

Firstly, you need to be posting this kind of post in this section of talkbass. (* initially was posted to Bassists [BG]*)
Secondly, you might want to be more specific on what type of music, application, cost...etc. Some people might say a Millennia STT-1 Origin through a Krell power amp is the best or a classic tube SVT or a Walter Woods... There are so many variables (which is a good thing) to consider. |

OP, there is no one "best". One mans warm is another mans mud, etc.
Any amp with some degree of eq on it should be able to do R&B as well as punk rock. Maybe just some that isn't too clean or has pre and post gain controls on the preamp tube, or some built in effect that can put a little grit in it should you so desire.
Real R&B, I think warm thump, like Duck Dunn on Stax records.
Punk rock, I think P-bass with a pick and a little more edgy.
Basically, just use a P-bass and whatever amp works. |
