Best band for your buck - Bass head

Looking for a cheap (around $200 used) bass head... Need about 200-400 watts.

Any ideas? I have seen some cheap GK's, what is good and still in my price range?

Hartke 3500, got mine used, with a crappy 4x10, for $200 on Craigslist. Seen them that cheap or slightly more expensive before.

I found an Ashdown MAG 300 for $200 used - it's been a solid amp for me.

GK Backline 600 is 300W, and only like $300 NEW; it gets a lot of love as a "bang for the buck" head. Finding one for $200ish used shouldn't be very difficult.

Just about anything Peavey
Also a fan of the Ashdown Mag300, I liked mine so much I sold my SWR and kept the much cheaper Ashdown.

Look for Peavey MkIII or MkIV (basically the same head just a few control differences), you can probably find one for less than $200. I've been using my MkIV since I bought it new in '83 it has never let me down.

+1 for each of these. I've owned both and they're both excellent heads.

I'll throw out Yorkville as well. Those seem to be going for next to nothing these days and generally have tons of headroom.

GK Backline 600 and Ashdown MAG 300 are good choices for that price-range. I've heard good things about the Hartke as well.
