Best 4x10 in the 300~500 price range. Want something that can take a beating and keep going. Needs to be a 8 ohm cab. Any thoughts?

I've used Carvin stuff for years. Good meat and potatoes gear. You can probably pick one up used for a song.

Maybe looking at a Peavey TVX would be good then? Those peaveys are made to handle a lot of wear and tear. A lot of guys have older peavey combos from the 80's that are still running strong.
